چکیده

Experimental myocardial infarction was produced in 32 mongrel dogs. The changes in activity of four lysosomal enzymes (acid phosphatase, glucuronidase, deoxyribonuclease, and •y-glutamyl-transpeptidase) were examined in the soluble and the particle-bound fraction. The pattern of changes in free and particle-bound enzyme activity observed was similar for all four enzymes. During the first 48 hours after coronary occlusion, the particle-bound enzyme activity was decreased, while the free activity was moderately increased, reflecting the autolytic phase of cell and tissue destruction. Between the second and the sixth day, the soluble hydrolytic enzyme activity was maximal and the particle-bound activity was slowly increasing. During this period, the main part of tissue degradation and removal of cell debris takes place. Ten days after myocardial infarction the free hydrolytic activity had returned to control values, but the particle-bound enzyme activity was four to ten times higher in the infarcted tissue than in the control muscle. Investigation of MMP-2 and MMP-9 activities in canine sera with dilated cardiomyopathy

Dilated cardiomyopathy (DCM) is accompanied by myocytes and connective tissue changes. Matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) play important roles in cardiac remodeling. It seems that the gelatinases (MMP-2 and MMP-9) are effective enzymes in cardiomyopathy. Dilated cardiomyopathy was confirmed in 22 dogs (patient group) including 11 female and 11 male by clinical examination, auscultation, thoracic ...

Pretreatment with a combination of quercetin and alpha-tocopherol ameliorates adenosine triphosphatases and lysosomal enzymes in myocardial infarcted rats.

AIMS Membrane bound adenosine triphosphatases (ATPases) and lysosomal enzymes play an important role in the pathology of myocardial infarction. This study was aimed to evaluate the combined preventive effects of quercetin and alpha-tocopherol on membrane bound ATPases and lysosomal enzymes in isoproterenol induced myocardial infarcted rats. MAIN METHODS Male Wistar rats were pretreated with a...

(-) Epicatechin prevents alterations in lysosomal glycohydrolases, cathepsins and reduces myocardial infarct size in isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarcted rats.

The preventive effects of (-) epicatechin on oxidative stress, cardiac mitochondrial damage, altered membrane bound adenosine triphosphatases and minerals were reported previously in isoproterenol-induced myocardial infarction model. Leakage of lysosomal glycohydrolases and cathepsins play an important role in the pathology of myocardial infarction. This study was aimed to evaluate the preventi...

Assessment of passive elastic stiffness for isolated heart muscle and the intact heart.

A sensitive method was developed for detecting stiffness changes in the left ventricle. Stress-strain relationships (cr—e) were obtained in the form do~/de = ko~ + c from published studies on eight normal canine hearts, five infarcted canine hearts, and seven isolated cat papillary muscles. Utilizing pressure-volume relationships, the elastic stiffness (dcr/de) and the stiffness constant (k) we...

compare the effect of eight weeks of traditional resistance training and TRX on muscle injury indices of inactive Women

Background & Aims: Intense physical activity, despite its various benefits for general health, can cause possible damage to various tissues of the body due to increased oxidative stress through increasing production of reactive species. Muscle bruising and pain is a common experience that occurs after performing unusual and intense activities, especially after resistance and extroverted activit...
